DAC (Digital Asset Compliance)

DAC (Digital Asset Compliance) bridges the gap between innovation and regulations for blockchain and cryptocurrency start-ups.

DAC provides software with multiple compliance modules to store, record and share compliance data related to policies and procedure, training, sanctions, risk assessment, complaints and other compliance essentials.

Additionally, the DAC Marketplace provides access to a library of regtech companies where APIs can be built to extract data from regtech favorites and provide a one stop shot for all compliance data at the company.

The Brief

Create a compliance software with modules that are intuitive and easy for any executive to run a compliance program for their firm and create detailed reports required for auditors, regulators and the Board of Directors. The product needs to be intuitive and simple for non-compliance employees, customizable, spreadsheet based with audit trails and sharing features, not over-engineered like other compliance software

User Research

The client a compliance officer herself, provided me with first hand knowledge of what compliance officers wants and painpoints. I then mined the internet for hard data on demographics giving a fuller vision of our users needs, focusing on: gender composition, age by gender, necessary skills, and main duties of compliance officers.

Gender Composition

130k

MALE WORKFORCE

± 8,842

154k

FEMALE WORKFORCE

± 9,618

54.2% of Compliance officers are Female, making them the more common gender in the occupation. This chart shows the gender breakdown of Compliance officers.

Age by Gender

46.1

AVERAGE MALE AGE

± 0.857

43.8

AVERAGE FEMALE AGE

± 0.738

The median age of Compliance officers is 44.9, and Male employees are generally 2.28 years older than than their Female counterparts.

Data on the critical and distinctive skills necessary for Compliance officers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Compliance officers need many skills, but most especially Reading Comprehension. Exploring the Problem Space

The United States handles the second largest volume of Bitcoin, roughly 26 percent, according to Cryptocompare. Regulators have taken a watchful approach toward “cryptocurrency money transmitters.” Recently, the United States Internal Revenue Service (IRS) launched an international task force, together with tax enforcement authorities from four other countries, to take on cryptocurrency-enabled crimes. Keeping DAC flexible through the market place with third party applications keeps the elasticity of the software in a raspidly changining regulations climate.

Design

Current compliance software offerings are rigid grey spreadsheets customization is limited to adding cells, columns and rows. I wanted the dashboard to be accessible for novice compliance software users and efficient for seasoned professionals. With the information received through my research, I created the 8 main modules included in our product. I then chose the font Avenir for its modern lines and easy readability, and color coded each modules ui elements to intuitively inform the user where they were located at all times.

  • Every module has pertinent notifications & sharing capabilities

  • Lists allows Compliance Officers to easily manage employees for correspondence

  • Market includes Advertising space and information for each 3rd party module

  • Task Flows are color coded by module

Next Steps:

  • Evaluate main module hierarchy according to changing Cryptocurrency Regulations

  • Develop more proprietary modules for purchase/subscription

  • Listen to user feedback, Iterate design & develop
